The Full Circle style is described as a semi-traditional, self-defense based, mixed martial arts style. It is a western blend of several different styles utilizing techniques from TaeKwonDo, kickboxing, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, escrima and kali. The goal is competency in fighting or self-defense skills as opposed to tournament or sport.
Although the program embraces some traditional aspects of martial arts such as the wearing of uniforms, bowing, belt ranking and training in bare feet, the instructors understand the modern nature of fighting. (See Our Training Philosophy for more information).
We teach kicks, hand strikes, throws, takedowns, pressure points, joint locks and opponent control.
The weapons that we teach are stick, double stick, knife, and staff. We avoid teaching the traditional weapons such nunchukus and sai because they have little practical fighting application and in many cases are illegal. For those that are interested in learning these weapons we hold an occasional seminar.
